How Do I file an Application for Extension of Time to File for Pennsylvania?

Online · Written guide Content date 1 min read

If an extension has been granted by the IRS, Pennsylvania will grant an equivalent extension of up to six months. If you are electronically filing the Pennsylvania tax return, a copy of the federal extension will be attached, otherwise if you are paper filing the Pennsylvania tax return include a copy of the federal extension with the return.

If the taxpayer isn't filing a federal extension, file Form REV-276, Application for Extension of Time to File, to receive an automatic six-month extension. Extension payments must be mailed with a completed Form REV-276, however if paying by credit card or electronic funds transfer Form REV-276 is not required.

To access the Pennsylvania REV-276 in Tax Processors Plus Online, from the Pennsylvania Return menu select:

  • Miscellaneous Forms
  • Application for Extension of Time to File REV-276 - Select Yes and enter the amount of the estimated payment that will be made for each quarter.
