Desktop · Written guide Content date 1 min read

A schema is the set of rules describing how the e-filed return data should be organized and validated. A Pennsylvania individual tax return may not pass schema validation if Schedule C is missing information for assets being depreciated.

To correct a validation error related to missing asset information, from the Pennsylvania Tax Return Menu select:

  • Pennsylvania Taxable Income
  • Business Income or Loss
  • PA Schedule C - Select the business.
    • Expenses
    • Depreciation
    • Other Depreciation
    • Other Depreciation - For each asset listed, ensure each has something entered in each field:
      • Description of Property
      • Date Acquired
      • Cost or Other Basis
      • Depreciation Allowed in Prior Years
      • Method of Computing Depreciation
