An amended Pennsylvania individual income tax return with a refund will reject if direct debit payment information was included for the original return's balance due:
Reject Code: PA40-025 | Category: Incorrect Data | Severity: Error
Invalid Debit Payment. If a Debit Payment is present, then Amount of Line 29 You Want As a Refund Check must be equal to or less than '0'.
Pennsylvania doesn't support direct debit for amended returns, so the return's original payment information can cause the amended return with a refund to reject.
